long time, no see

well, after my body returned to being vaguely functional, I had a couple months where I didn't work out much. played ultimate once a week. rode a couple times a week. swam occasionally, maybe averaging once a week. not great, but far better than nothing. had fun, did some canoing and hiking, let my IT band heal. good to have some down time.

now I'm starting to slowly shift into a higher gear. this week was my second training race at Greenbelt, which is fun. even though I was in a crash on the penultimate lap this week, I felt I raced well for me. and it made me hungry to go back and do better.

the new schedule. I'll see how it works out.
Mon: ride to work
Tues: swim
Wed: race at Greenbelt, or otherwise ride
Thurs: rest
Fri: swim
Sat: longer ride, maybe group ride
Sun: yoga?

by the way, the Giro d'Italia is going on right now. tomorrow is the first exciting road stage, but it's not shockingly hard. I figure all of the favorites finish in the same group, or maybe with one or two of them a few seconds up the road. Possibilities for one or two to crack, but unlikely at this point. Di Luca, Basso, Salvoldelli, and the rest should all be all right. it seems like no one really wants to push too hard right now because the last week and a half (after the second rest day) is so consistently hard.
