Butterfly in the grass

I was walking...

And then I found something!

getting back...slowly

ran for 25-30 minutes in Mt. Hope Cemetery. No HRM, easy pace. no ill effects the next morning.

finding the pool

~30 minutes, 1000yds. Wimpy workout, but taking it nice and easy. It'll take a little while to get the swimming-specific muscles back, anyway.

pumping a little iron

lifted weights and did core for 30-45 minutes this morning. Did low weight, high reps, taking it easy. Focus on the core work.

a different kind of cross-training

chopped and hauled wood for 1.5 to 2 hours. It's been sort of a frustrating week letting my body get itself back together, but I'm feeling generally good about it. Being able to wait when you would really rather not is an important thing to learn...

trying to ease back into things

rode easy, 2:10 (including 2 pee breaks), 31.5 miles. The chamois in the knickers is super comfy!

Friday afternoon

rode with Ian, ~1:30, 30 miles on a lovely autumn afternoon. Except for the part where I got a flat. Hamstrings were not adequately stretched after the ride--Saturday morning was a bit painful. Time to get back in shape! Ian is getting strong, which is great too.

harvest time

rode with Ben, easy-moderate pace (although we're getting faster, bit by bit). ~1:35, 25.5 miles, left the HR monitor at home. Ben got a new red carbon Trek Madone that just screams FAST at you. About 50F outside, but a truly perfect fall day. Saw a full harvest moon from the top of the steep hill on Morgan. Benissimo!

Wednesday for cross-training

played ultimate, ~1:30. scrimmaged the team from SUNY Geneseo, so the sustained intensity was higher than usual, but less actual playing (since I don't play every point).
